The E-BoP team is pleased to announce our next hybrid research seminar, “Labour Migration and the Legal Boundaries of Exploitation.” The event will take place in Strasbourg and online (Zoom) on 17 March 2026, from 10AM to noon (CET).
This seminar brings together leading scholars to reflect on how European legal frameworks define the line between lawful labour migration and exploitation. We are delighted to welcome Professor Judy Fudge (McMaster University), who will discuss the EU’s approach to human trafficking and the impact of legal categorisations of mobile workers; Professor Mireia Llobera Vila (University of Valencia), who will examine the role of inspections in formalising workers in the context of personal and household services organised by digital platforms; and our PhD student, Catharina Lopes Scodro (CNRS / University of Strasbourg), who will analyse the protection gaps affecting au pairs in situations of exploitation. The seminar will be opened and closed by our PI, Marco Rocca.
