On 23 and 24 November 2023, Marco Rocca, our PI, participated to the international conference “Externalisation de l’activité dans l’agriculture” (Subcontracting in the agricultural sector) organised in Bordeaux by the COMPTRASEC research centre. He presented some reflections on the EU legal framework for posting of workers in light of some recent cases of widespread violations in the French agricultural sector -the Terra Fecundis case. In his presentation, he drew from the preliminary results of our systematic document analysis of EU law, to highlight the need to rethink the relationship between posted workers and the labour market of the country of arrival.
The subjects covered by the conference were also in line with the approach we develop with E-BoP. Namely, the conference analysed the use of both seasonal workers and posted workers in the French agricultural sector. This confirms our intuitions as to the comparable role that these groups play in the labour market of the country of arrival. We will keep exploring this link in the next steps of our project!
